Rattanakosin Island is a district located on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. Since it’s bordered by the river and the canals, it’s also called an island. It’s a must-visit during your days in Bangkok!

The Grand Palace

The Grand Palace, which is one of the most significant attractions in Bangkok is located here. Not to forget, it’s also home to the Buddhist Temple- Wat Phra Kaew that houses the Emerald Buddha statue.

Wat Mahathat and Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha) are some other main attractions you find here. The others include Wat Ratchanadda, Wat Bowonniwet, Wat Suthat, Wat Saket, and the Dusit Palace.

Getting around the Rattanakosin Island

Since MRTs and riverboats are all available, you may choose any of them, as per your preference. If you want more fun and entertainment, you may also get around on a tuk-tuk. If you stay at a Sukhumvit 4-star hotel the likes of Maitria Hotel Sukhumvit 18, you can easily visit Rattanakosin Island by taxi.

Things to know

Since many Buddhist temples are here, make sure you wear an appropriate dress. Be mindful when taking pictures because there can be restrictions at some places.
