Rich with religion and history

Built for the kings during the Rattanakosin Kingdom, the Grand Palace in Bangkok has been home to many mighty kings throughout the years.

About

When there were no kings residing in the palace, it was used as a place where the members of the royal families were kept before cremation.

History

After the kingdoms past and royal families left the palace, it became a place for hosting celebrations and royal ceremonies. 5 star hotels in Bangkok are no match for the splendour you will find inside the Grand Palace and if you are curious as to what luxury royalty had back in the days, you should definitely make time for a visit.

Location

Located in the heart of the city, the Grand Palace is a relatively short drive away from hotels like Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok, for instance. The palace itself is divided into two parts, one being the temple of Emerald Buddha and the residence for royalty.

Exploring

The second part of the palace has the Outer Court, the Inner Court, and the Middle Court. When you visit the Grand Palace, be in decent and more conservative attire that is preferably black or white as it shows your condolences and respect to the late King Rama IX.
